Weir for macOS
One file. Open it, drag Weir to Applications, and open it from there.
Universal — Apple silicon and Intel
Drag it to Applications
This matters more than it looks. macOS runs an application opened straight from a disk image or from your Downloads folder at a randomised path, which is a security measure and also stops it being able to update itself. Moving it to Applications in Finder is what clears that, once, for good.
What it needs
- macOS 12.3 or later.
- For video from web pages: yt-dlp and ffmpeg. Weir uses them if they are installed and says so if they are not. Neither is bundled.
Updates
Weir checks quietly in the background and puts a small mark in the title bar when there is something newer. Nothing installs itself without being asked, and nothing interrupts you to tell you about it.
Already bought a licence?
Open Weir, go to Settings, and paste your key into the Licence box. If you have lost it, you can look it up with the order number and the email address you bought it with.
